Abstract: 

This is a studio experimental research. The main propose of this research is to produce an alternative colorant substance for ceramic product. The research afford is towards increasing the quality of “terra sigillata” by using only local clay. This is to see whether the substance could produce equally good or produce better result then conventional glaze. Sampels of substance taken from Batang Padang District. Three main location being identified as suitable in acquiring the clay is the hill, river bank and swamp.

Experimental process, test and result are recorded, masured and approved by local exparts. In gathering data two research instrument used that is, labotary tools at ceramic workshop, Fakulti Seni Dan Muzik, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. Experimental process, test and results are recorded in a from of lab report in order to get supervisor’s approval. Researcher hope that this research is usefull to art art teachers and educators as easier and effective solution (ABM) in teaching ceramic (proses P&P) in schools and IPT
