Abstract: 

This survey is done in a qualitative approach with a clear objective to justify the uncertainty factors dealing with the visual art subject involving the Form 4 Commerce students in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Rambai, Melaka in the year 2005.

This survey is focussed on various aspects such as studio facilities, the method of teaching and learning, the awareness of the students, students socio economy and students attitude to improve their study in visual art. The main aim of the survey is to upgrade the teacher’s knowledge with the current information. Having the latest technique and verification for art teacher to understand, only then the visual art teacher can predict and control the outcome.

The survey involved 30 visual art students. The researcher builds up the holistic description, making analysis and writing detailed reports based on the informer’s view and the survey is carried out in the actual phenomena. Various technique and instruments are used to collect the information data. The instruments used are interview, observation, visual recording, archive documents and questionnaire.

The result is descriptively analyst and there is no doubt the poor teaching and learning method are the main reasons in the visual art lesson. This due to visual art teacher is busy and active in non-professional works. Besides the art student are said having low cognitive, lack parents support and they are not actively involved in the learning process.
