The research aims to acknowledge the implementation of art appreciation of teachers and

students perception on visual art education. Reseach of art appreciation focuses on the

knowledge of teachers regarding the teaching of visual art education in school. Research

on students art appreciation during teaching and learning (T&L) session is also being


The case studyis done in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Mahmud, Raub, Pahang that

involves 50 students that takes visual art as an elective subject for Sijil Peiajaran

Malaysia (SPM). in addition the research also incledes opinion from three teachers

teaching visual art. Qualitative approach is the method used for this research. Data are

gathered through observation, conversation and survey from teachers and students.

The findings show that 66@'o of students are involved in a session of art appreciation

conducted by a visual art teachers. The rest of the students are not involved with the class

at all. Thus measures are students to solve the problem regarding the lack of art

appreciation among students in class.
