Abstract: 

"Pulut Semangat" : Between Value and Belief, is actually a research that used the

qualitative appoach to study the ancient Malay culture. The research comprises a case

study in Kampung Tanjung Kala, which is a village in the District of Hulu Perak.

This research consists of three very knowledgeable and experienced respondents in

this specific culture. The purpose of the research is to get close to this ancient culture

and also to give exposure to the new generation who nowadays are already neglecting

the culture.. The methods used in this research are by interviewing the respondents,

visual recording and observation. All the bindings only showed the practise in the

study area and if there is similarities, it is the effect of inter-related culture. This

culture contains values and beliefs that is shown behind the preparation. Therefore,

every practice has an inner meaning starting from the preparation of the component

until the reception session. Even so, the changes in Malay culture that can be

identified from the value, educational, political, economic system and also technology

and environment has made this culture being abandoned.
