Abstract: 

This research is an attempt to survey the factors which have brought about a attitude and a

lack of interest in the art subject in general and in the art and craft paper in particular

amongst students. The respondent of this research consists of 30 Form Four students of

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Simpang Beluru, 33600 Enggor, Perak who will be

taking the Art Paper for the Siji! Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Examination but have not

chosen the Art and Craft Paper (i.e Paper 3). A set of questionnaires is used in this

research. This set of questionires has been revised an includes an attitude grading scale.

The data is analysed in percentage form. The results ;ofthis research shows that there is a

high percentage of negative attitude amongst students as regards the Art subject, the

teacher teaching the subject and the environment or the Art room.
